A project built with love, a vision always clear, and today a name worthy of everything it has become.
There is a moment when a project stops being just an idea and becomes something greater than what was imagined. For what until recently we knew as LiveGranCanaria, this is one of those moments: a significant transformation is underway, an evolution that takes shape with the launch of a new platform — more mature, more complete — and along with it, some substantial changes. But this story begins far back.
An Island That Stays With You
Gran Canaria is not just a destination. It is a place that changes people. Those who come for a week often end up returning. Those who live here for a few months sometimes decide to stay and call it "home." It is this rare quality of the island — made of coastlines, mountains, neighbourhoods, microclimates and a social and cultural vitality that few expect — that inspired the birth of this project.
EnjoyGC is designed for those who experience Gran Canaria fully: locals, expats, digital nomads, passionate visitors. Whether you have chosen the island as home, use it as a base for a project, or take advantage of its unique climate to work from anywhere in the world: this is not a generic tourist portal or a cold, compiled guide. It is a living reference point, built to provide real support, information and services to those who are on the island.
The Person Behind the Project: Maurizio
Behind all of this is a personal story — mine.
I am Italian, a long-term expat: five years in the Netherlands before landing in Gran Canaria. And when I arrived on the island, I did so during one of the most complicated moments of recent decades: the Covid pandemic. A period when every human contact was difficult, loaded with suspicion and distance, and when starting from scratch in a new place meant carrying uncertainty, expectations and, despite everything, a generous dose of hope.
Like so many expats who arrive here, I had a clear need: to build real connections and put down roots. Not just to survive in a new place, but to truly belong to it.
That need — deeply human — intersected with years of hands-on experience in building communities through events: gatherings, evenings, carefully organised meet-ups designed to bring together people who might otherwise never have crossed paths. It is from here, from that personal need transformed into a collective project, that the first sketch of a community was born — not just digital, but concrete, in real life — taking the name LiveGranCanaria.
Gran Canaria responded. With unexpected contacts, with opportunities, with a personal growth I had not planned but that the island, in its own way, facilitated. Because Gran Canaria has a particular energy — hard to explain to those who have not experienced it, but immediately recognisable to those who live here. An energy that attracts, that blends cultures, that builds bridges. Something I felt from the very first days, and that has since become the beating heart of everything EnjoyGC wants to convey.
How It All Began: The Seed of 2021
In 2021 there was no platform yet. There was a feeling. There was so much beauty, rhythm and community on the island, but almost none of it was being gathered with care. The dance evenings, the cultural events, the social gatherings, the connections between people — everything was happening, but it remained scattered, hard to find, hard to share.
From that awareness the project was born: from the concrete need to give the island a better digital presence, capable of helping people discover events, useful resources and that local energy that makes Gran Canaria an unforgettable place.
The First Public Step: LiveGranCanaria
In 2022, after months of listening — talking with visitors, with event organisers, learning from daily life on the island — the first platform launched publicly under the name LiveGranCanaria. A place where plans, people and experiences could finally meet.
It was a beginning. It worked. But the vision was already bigger than that first step.
The Leap Forward in 2023
In 2023 the project was rethought from the ground up: cleaner structure, sharper design, faster performance and a more editorial approach to what deserves attention on the island. No longer a simple aggregator, but a voice with a point of view.
That renovation was not an end in itself. It was preparation. It was laying the foundations for something built to last.
2026: Welcome to EnjoyGranCanaria
Today that journey finds its natural completion. The platform is renewed — transforming from caterpillar to butterfly — leaving behind the original name LiveGranCanaria and presenting itself to the world with a new identity: EnjoyGranCanaria, also known as EnjoyGC.
The new logo and the new name are not merely a rebranding. They are the synthesis of what this project has become: a broader hub for events, community, services, experiences, guides and practical inspiration for living the island at its best. A place designed as much for those who live here as for those arriving for the first time — and for those who return, as so often happens with Gran Canaria.
The vision behind EnjoyGC is precise: the island is far more than a postcard. Its coastlines, mountains, neighbourhoods and microclimates create a place full of cultural, social and creative potential. The mission is to connect local knowledge, useful resources and real people, so that residents and visitors can discover richer experiences and build them together.
What Has Been Built
Over the years, this community has helped strangers become friends, and friends become regulars. Dance evenings, cultural gatherings, social events: every occasion has been a node in a network of human connections that keeps growing today.
Many visitors have returned time and again, bringing others with them. This — more than any number or metric — is the most authentic measure of what has been built.
